Spice Queen Smoothie

You guys!  This is seriously one of the best smoothies of all time. Turmeric, also known as the "Spice Queen" is the star of this drink.  Carrot combined with pineapple adds a light sweetness and extra benefits.  I love this smoothie as a mid morning meal, or as a go to for a detox week.

Orange Glow Smoothie, serves one.

1 cup unsweetened almond
milk
1 scoop Vanilla Protein
½ cup frozen pineapple
½ cup carrot, diced
¼ tsp turmeric, ground
¼ cup unsweetened
almond milk yogurt
 

I love to keep frozen fruit on hand for a quick smoothie. I usually end up making one for the whole tribe, so this makes prep and clean up so much easier.  Also, if your fruit is about to go past it's prime, don't throw it, chop it up and freeze it.  You won’t find yourself ever throwing out fruit again and it makes throwing a smoothie together super quick and easy.

Just throw everything into a good blender, and combine until smooth.

Sometimes I add a pinch of black pepper, or some flax seed on top, to mix it up.  You could also skip the milk and yogurt, and do coconut water to make a juice blend! 

Here's the lowdown on the health benefits of this smoothie.

Turmeric-  Contains a wide range of antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-fungal,
anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Carrot-  Known to improve vision, prevent heart disease, nourish the skin, an also has anti-aging properties.
